HHL featured in the Princeton Review`s "BEST 296 BUSINESS SCHOOLS: 2009 EDITION"

Handelshochschule Leipzig

HHL - Leipzig Graduate School of Management is an outstanding business school, according to The Princeton Review. The New York-based education services company features the school in the just-published 2009 edition of its "Best 296 Business Schools" (Random House / Princeton Review, Oct. 7, 2008, $22.95).

According to Robert Franek, Princeton Review VP-Publishing, "We select schools for this book based on our high regard for their academic programs and offerings, institutional data we collect from the schools, and the candid opinions of students attending them who rate and report on their campus experiences at the schools. We are pleased to recommend HHL to readers of our book and users of our website as one of the best institutions they could attend to earn an MBA."

"Best 296 Business Schools" has two-page profiles of the schools with write-ups on their academics, student life and admissions, plus ratings for their academics, selectivity and career placement services. In the profile on HHL, the Princeton Review editors say that the school "offers German and international business students an appealing mix of a well-established name and modern innovation." They quote from students attending it who say "One of the big strengths of this program is its excellent contact to companies. Almost all top companies in consulting, banking, and industry come for presentation and recruiting. Companies react surprisingly positively when saying that you are from HHL."

In a "Survey Says. . ." sidebar in the profile, The Princeton Review lists topics that HHL students surveyed for the book were in most agreement about. The list includes: "friendly students", and "Solid preparation in: Finance, Accounting, General Management". The Princeton Review's 80-question survey asked students about themselves, their career plans, and their schools' academics, student body and campus life.

The Princeton Review does not rank the schools in the book on a single hierarchical list from 1 to 296, or name one business school best overall. Instead, the book has 11 ranking lists of the top 10 business schools in various categories. Ten lists are based on The Princeton Review's surveys of 19,000 students attending the 296 business schools profiled in the book. (Only schools that permitted The Princeton Review to survey their students were eligible for consideration for these lists). Conducted during the 2007-08, 2006-07, and 2005-06 academic years, the student surveys were primarily completed online. One list, "Toughest to Get Into," is based solely on institutional data. (All schools in the book were eligible for consideration for this list.) The lists are posted at www.PrincetonReview.com.

HHL - Leipzig Graduate School of Management
HHL - Leipzig Graduate School of Management was founded in 1898 as Germany's first business school. It was re-established in 1992 as a private institution with full university status granting dissertation and habilitation degrees and today it is considered one of the leading business schools. In addition to the graduate school's international focus, the combination of theory and applied-learning at HHL, along with the teaching of a responsible and sustainable leadership style, play a special role. At the HHL a two year degree program in economics with an emphasis on business management can be taken. The school also has a 18-month program to obtain the Master of Science in Management. In addition the HHL offers a 15-month MBA (or a 24-month part-time program for career professionals). A three-year dissertation program for career professionals tops off the HHL degree programs. With its subsidiary HHL Executive GmbH, the HHL offers firm-specific professional training. In April 2004 the HHL received the highly-respected AACSB International accreditation.
