- Focus on industrial cybersecurity and Industry 4.0
- Creation of a researcher position
The TÜV NORD GROUP is supporting research on the topic of “industrial cybersecurity - market development and requirements for a healthy Industry 4.0” at ESMT European School of Management and Technology. At the Digital Society Institute (DSI) at ESMT, a research position has been established to analyze attack scenarios to interconnected industrial plants and to develop a methodology for evaluating existing security approaches.
Since its inception in October 2015, the DSI has been researching topics of importance to digitalization and using its scientific expertise to strengthen the discourse between business, politics, and society. The academically independent institute was founded to provide objective, reliable information on the digital future and to develop cross-sector analyzes and strategies.
“Industry 4.0 promises great opportunities for business, but it also comes with significant challenges to IT security. The DSI will constantly expand its expertise in this area,” explains Sandro Gaycken, director of the Digital Society Institute. “We are therefore delighted to cooperate with the TÜV NORD GROUP on cybersecurity research.”
“Digitalization is a global megatrend and is becoming an increasingly important part of our testing activities,” says Dirk Stenkamp, member of the TÜV NORD GROUP. “IT security is central in this, and for this reason, it is of great importance for us to promote research in this area at ESMT.”
