International projects and big data are some of the greatest challenges of our time. In order to manage the continually growing flood of information, companies need the right expertise. From autumn 2016, this expertise can be acquired at HTW Berlin. HTW Berlin is the first university in Germany to offer an international Master’s degree in Project Management and Data Science. The four-semester study programme is conducted in English and culminates in a Master of Science degree title. The closing date for applications is 15 July 2016.
International projects, large databases, fast computers and powerful networks are some of the key challenges faced by companies in the business, technology and research sectors. “Qualified specialists who can organise large volumes of information, identify relationships and patterns and make the right decisions for projects are in high demand,” says Prof. Dr. Tilo Wendler, a professor at HTW Berlin and the initiator of the new Master’s programme. This demand for specialists was confirmed in a study by the Federal Association for Information Technology, Telecommunications and New Media (Bitkom) in 2015, with 65 percent of the surveyed companies reporting a shortage in highly qualified personnel.
In order to meet this demand, Prof. Dr. Wendler, an expert in business mathematics and data mining, worked closely together with selected partner companies when designing the study programme. The Master’s degree programme in Project Management and Data Science is highly practice-oriented. Over the course of four semesters, students learn how to strategically manage projects and analyse huge quantities of data. To ensure that students are prepared for the global market, the programme is conducted entirely in English.
The Master’s degree programme in Project Management and Data Science at HTW Berlin is aimed at national and international applicants from the first level of management upwards. The programme is also of interest to companies wishing to promote the development of their employees with a view towards a sustainable and forward-looking company strategy.
HTW Berlin has over 14,000 students and 70 study programmes in the areas of technology, business, computing, culture and design. It is the largest and most diverse university of applied sciences in Berlin. It enjoys a good reputation and is always highly rated in university rankings. The Master’s degree programme in Project Management and Data Science is offered at the Treskowallee Campus in Karlshorst.
