Register by 31 July 2016 to benefit from the early bird rate
HANNOVER, 1 July 2016 – Those wishing to attend the 20th International Conference on Theory and Practice of Digital Libraries (TPDL) are now able to register. L3S Research Centre and the Technische Informationsbibliothek – German National Library of Science and Technology (TIB) are jointly hosting the English-language conference in Hannover from 5 to 9 September 2016. The reduced early bird rate is available until 31 July 2016.
TPDL 2016, under the auspices of Lower Saxony’s Prime Minister Stephan Weil, is being held under the title “Overcoming the Limits of Digital Archives”. The topics addressed focus on current and future developments in the area of digital libraries and archives, and their applications. Some 300 participants from all over the world are expected to attend the event.
TPDL 2016 keynotes:
“Pretty Things Done with (Electronic) Texts: Why We Need Full-Text Access” (Jan Rybicki, Jagiellonian University, Kraków, Poland)
“Metaphors All the Way Down: The many practical uses of figurative language understanding” (Tony Veale, University College Dublin, Ireland)
“Mozart’s Laptop: Implications for Creativity in Multimedia Digital Libraries and Beyond” (David Bainbridge, University of Waikato, and Director of the New Zealand Digital Library Research Project)
The programme also includes numerous lectures, tutorials, debates, workshops and poster presentations on topics such as “Connecting digital libraries”, “Digital libraries in science” and “Users, communities, personal data”.
