Christine von Vangerow moves from BAM to the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology

    The KIT Senate has confirmed Christine von Vangerow’s election as vice president for human resources and law. The board has followed the Supervisory Board’s vote. BAM President Prof. Ulrich Panne commented on the upcoming move of Ms von Vangerow, BAM Head of Department and member of the Board of Directors saying: "Christine von Vangerow has significantly contributed to the success of BAM as a departmental research institution over the years. Her move from BAM to KIT is a strong confirmation of her excellent work. KIT will obtain a great science manager and strategist."

    Berlin, 17th October 2016 – The Senate of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) has today confirmed the Supervisory Board’s vote by an overwhelming majority to elect Christine von Vangerow as the new KIT vice president for human resources and law. Confirmation by the KIT Senate is another step in the process that will be followed by the final negotiations of the conditions and then the appointment procedure. KIT will then have a new vice president for human resources and law. The planned entry to her new office is 1st January 2017.

    The President of the Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung (BAM) Prof. Ulrich Panne says: "The KIT gains an excellent science manager and strategist. Her prodigious personal commitment has played a key role in transforming the Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung into a modern departmental research institution. Her move from BAM to KIT is a confirmation of her excellent work. On behalf of BAM, and from me, I would like to thank Christine von Vangerow for her outstanding commitment and excellent cooperation. I wish her much success in the new post as KIT vice president for human resources and law."

    Christine von Vangerow – about her
    Christine von Vangerow was born in Oberelsbach, Bavaria in 1961. She studied at the Julius Maximilian University in Würzburg where she passed the first state exam in law. After a juridical internship and the second state exam in law at the Bamberg Higher State Court, she joined the Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung (BAM) in Berlin in 1993 where she initially led the procurement office. In addition, she became head of the legal office in 1998. Between 2006 and 2009, Ms von Vangerow was head of the expanded Organisation, Law, and Controlling Section. Since 2009, she has been head of department for the Internal Services Department, which comprises nine sections and 230 staff members. Since 2011, Ms von Vangerow has also been a member of BAM's Board of Directors, where she has been responsible for strategy development and implementation, controlling, strategic construction measures and real estate concepts.
