TIB offers excellent equal opportunities for women and men in the workplace
HANNOVER, 11 November 2016 – Total E-Quality Deutschland has conferred the Total E-Quality Award on TIB for the fifth time in succession for practising equal opportunities. The aim of the award is to commend research institutions for their commitment to equal opportunities. The official award ceremony took place in Nuremberg on 9 November 2016.
In its grounds for conferring the award, the jury praised TIB for its successful policy on gender equality, which it has been pursuing for years. This is particularly the case concerning gender equality measures in recruitment and the organisational culture, reflected, among other things, by the fact that 65 per cent of TIB’s total workforce are women. “Not only does the German National Library of Science and Technology create the same basic conditions for professional success for its employees, making the library more successful than others – it also promotes the careers of women in the organisation, increasing its appeal as an employer,” stated Eva Maria Roer, CEO of Total E-Quality Deutschland.
“TIB has been advocating equal opportunities for women and men in the workplace for years, for example by offering numerous opportunities for personalised working arrangements and by promoting advanced and continuing education courses. We are delighted that our commitment in this area is being commended once again,” explained Michaela Ohlhoff, Equal Opportunities Officer at TIB.
TIB is the first library in Germany that has earned the Total E-Quality Award for the fifth time in succession. The award is valid for a period of three years, and is the result of an extensive application process. The award was conferred on TIB for the first time in 2004.
