Prof. Linus Dahlander will hold the Lufthansa Group Chair for Innovation at ESMT Berlin.
Prof. Linus Dahlander will hold the Lufthansa Group Chair for Innovation at ESMT Berlin. With this chair, the Lufthansa Group intends to support research and teaching in the field of innovation at ESMT. The ceremony will take place on May 16 at ESMT Berlin.
Linus Dahlander, associate professor at ESMT, investigates how new ideas and innovations are developed in networks and communities. His research also addresses the question of how companies can use and integrate external sources of innovation more effectively.
Prior to joining ESMT in January 2011, Linus Dahlander spent two years as a postdoctoral fellow at Stanford University. From 2006 to 2008 he was Assistant Professor and Advanced Institute of Management Research Fellow of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Group at the Imperial College Business School in the United Kingdom. In 2006, Linus Dahlander received his PhD in technology management and economics from Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden.
His work has been published in the leading publications of his research field, and he advises startups as well as leading international companies and governmental organizations on topics related to innovation and networks. In 2017, the business school website Poets & Quants named him one of the Best 40 Under 40 Professors. From 2013 to 2016 he was associate editor of the Academy of Management Journal.
Dr. Bettina Volkens, member of the Executive Board for Human Resources and Legal Affairs of Deutsche Lufthansa AG, says: "Our Lufthansa Innovation Hub has been working with the startup scene in Berlin since 2015 to make travel more digital, networked, and smarter. It is important for the Lufthansa Group to promote research in this area in order to understand how the innovation potential between established companies and startups can be better developed in the long term."
Prof. Jörg Rocholl, president of ESMT, explains: "Linus Dahlander's expertise in innovation and network dynamics makes him the perfect choice for this chair. We are delighted that Lufthansa supports us in this important field of research."
