Launch of a Joint European Research Centre of Leuphana and the University of Glasgow
With the opening of the European Centre for Advanced Studies (ECAS) on 1 April 2019, the cooperation agreed last year between Leuphana University Lüneburg and the University of Glasgow has reached another milestone. For the official launch of the centre a delegation from Glasgow led by Professor Sir Anton Muscatelli, Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Glasgow, will come to Lüneburg for a two-day visit.
Through ECAS, an independent research institution, both universities will be able to pursue common interests in research and teaching in the fields of digital culture and media, business informatics, law, management, sustainability and psychology. In particular, this involves joint research and study programmes as well as the exchange of academics and students.
ECAS aspires to promote the creation of networks and strategic partnerships, for example through the formation of clusters (e.g. between industrial partners and research institutions), cooperation with other research institutions and universities as well as with governments. The aim is also to establish a link between research institutions from Scotland and Lower Saxony.
The two-day meeting marks the start of ECAS's scientific work. In joint workshops on a number of topics, researchers from both universities will define common goals, agree on research projects and identify further cooperation partners and funding opportunities.
