From 21 to 25 November, the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) will be opening its doors to prospective students at the Toni Campus, at the Gessnerallee, and online. These information days will provide insights into ZHdK’s various study offerings in the arts, design and education. The programme can be found at www.zhdk.ch/en/information-days.
Creating a more sustainable world through design, taking on a leading role in the cultural and creative industries as an artist, or conducting an orchestra: Studying at ZHdK can lead to all kinds of professions. At these Information Days, lecturers and students from Art Education, Design, Film, Fine Arts, Music, Dance, Theatre and Transdisciplinarity will present ZHdK’s broad range of preparatory courses, study programmes and continuing education courses. Prospective students will learn how their course will be structured, how the application process works, and what their career prospects can be. In addition, anyone interested will be able to discuss things and get personal advice.
The new study model: Major/Minor
Autumn 2023 will see the launch of the new Major/Minor study model. In future, students at ZHdK will be able to expand or consolidate their Major individually from a choice of almost 90 newly created Minors, some of which are cross-disciplinary. With this reform, the University of the Arts is responding to the needs of students to develop a specific profile for tomorrow’s world of work. Depending on the combination they choose, students can either gain access to skills and expertise outside their core area of study, or can use specialised minors to delve even deeper into their chosen subject. “This forward-looking model will give our students a freedom of choice in educational offerings that will be unique among European universities of the arts”, says Karin Mairitsch, President of ZHdK.
An attractive environment
The ZHdK campus offers contemporary infrastructure with studios, workshops and labs, spaces for concerts, theatre and exhibitions, plus a cinema, a library and a music club. Here, students will find a challenging, lively environment that will help them to develop their skills, their curiosity and their networks, both individually and on an international level. With some 2,100 Bachelor and Master students and 650 lecturers, ZHdK is one of the largest universities of the arts in Europe.
