Constructor partners with THE to organize the Europe Universities Summit in Warsaw

    This year's Times Higher Education (THE) Europe Universities Summit will take place from July 3rd - 5th in Warsaw, Poland, under the motto “Beyond resilience: How European higher education is preparing for the future.” One of the panels will be led by representatives of Constructor University in Bremen, highlighting the role of young universities.

    This year's THE Europe Universities Summit will focus on how universities and other higher education institutions will continue to play a pivotal role in the recovery, unification, and progression of societies across Europe and beyond. During this three-day event, the focus will be on three main topics: “Resilience in European higher education – recovery and reform”, “Partnerships for security and growth”, and “Research excellence – translating the return on investment”.

    One of the first sessions after the live reveal of the THE Young Universities Ranking 2023 on July 3rd, will be devoted to the role of universities that have existed for fewer than 50 years. The panel’s topic will be: “The 21st-century institution: How young universities are leading the way in Europe”. The panel will be moderated by Isak Frumin, Head of the Observatory of Innovation in Higher Education of Constructor University in Bremen. Roman Cieslak, Rector at University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Poland), Esra Gencturk, Rector of Ozyegin University (Turkey), Jules Coleman, Chief Learning Officer of Constructor Knowledge (USA), Waldemar Siwinski, President at IREG Observatory on Academic Ranking and Excellence as well as Emilia Kmiotek-Meier, Researcher of young universities at University of Cologne will be discussing what distinctive qualities new institutions possess that may enable them to challenge traditional higher education models.

    Prof. Werner Nau, Interim Provost and Head of Academic Operations at Constructor University in Bremen, will join Zygmunt Lalak, Vice-Rector of Research at University of Warsaw and Tim Sowula, World Summit Series editor at THE in the opening remarks. Prof. Thomas Auf der Heyde, Managing Director and Vice President of Constructor University will give the closing remarks on Wednesday, the last day of the summit. Further representatives of the University will also be on-site to connect with colleagues from other European universities and to exchange ideas and best-practices.
