The Leibniz Institute of Polymer Research Dresden (IPF) hosted its highly anticipated Annual Reception, “IPF Amplified!”, on April 23, 2026, welcoming more than 250 guests, friends, and members of the institute. The event once again served as a vibrant platform for networking, celebrating scientific excellence, and highlighting groundbreaking achievements in polymer materials science.
The opening address by Dr. Tim Metje of the Saxon State Ministry of Science, Culture, and Tourism praised the institute’s successes in pioneering research and its role in fostering innovation for societal challenges.
A highlight of the evening was the keynote lecture delivered by Dr. Richard Socher, founder and CEO of You.com, a leading AI-driven search platform. In his captivating talk, titled “The Future of AI,” Dr. Socher explored the latest advancements in artificial intelligence and their transformative potential for society and industry. Drawing on his expertise as both an AI researcher and entrepreneur, he outlined the future trajectory of this rapidly advancing field.
Complementing the scientific focus of the evening, the Kurt Masur Academy of the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra delighted attendees with an embedded concert. Young musicians performed a sonata by Sergei Prokofiev and a quintet by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, adding a touch of cultural brilliance to the reception.
The celebration of excellence continued with the recognition of outstanding scientific achievements by Dr. Rui de Oliveira, representing the IPF’s Association of Supporters. This year’s awardees included Daniela Lössner and her team, who received the Innovation Award for their innovative contributions to polymer research; Krishna Gupta, who was honored with the Doctoral Thesis Award for his exceptional dissertation; and Sascha Bartosch, who was presented with the Professor Franz Brandstetter Prize for his master’s thesis on weak polyelectrolyte binding.
The Annual Reception reaffirmed the IPF’s role as a hub for scientific collaboration, innovation, and excellence. By bringing together experts, policymakers, and supporters, the event underscored the institute’s commitment to advancing polymer materials science and fostering interdisciplinary exchange. The IPF thanks all attendees, partners, and supporters for making this year’s reception a resounding success and looks forward to driving innovation and collaboration in polymer materials science in the years to come.
