For the idw Award for Science Communication, 99 press offices submitted their best press release of 2023. An expert jury has compiled a shortlist of 15 press releases and will select the three winners. For the first time, there will be an additional audience award; all subscribers of Informationsdienst Wissenschaft (idw) are cordially invited to vote. Vote for the one (1) press release you think is the best by 9 April!

This is how it works:

On nachrichten.idw-online.de/voting we present the 15 press releases on the shortlist. Please log in there with your user name and password. If you don't yet have idw access, you can set one up here for free. You can vote by first clicking on the button next to the respective press release and then on the "Vote" button. This is only possible once for each registered idw user. You cannot change your vote afterwards. The idw will publish the winners, including the winner of the audience award, on May 3rd.

The idw Award for Science Communication:

Informationsdienst Wissenschaft (idw) emphasises quality. One of the ways it promotes this is through the idw Award for Science Communication, which has been awarded annually since 2009. The press offices affiliated with idw can each submit one of their own press releases from the previous year. The jury assesses the submissions according to technical professionalism (quality), outstanding news value (relevance) and scientific significance (originality). Technical professionalism is the most strongly weighted element. Please see the German version of this page for jury details.

The 1st, 2nd and 3rd winner will be awarded €2,000, €1,000 and €500 prize money respectively. For the first time, there will also be an unendowed audience award. Take part in this premiere and vote for the one of the 15 press releases that you think is the best!
