Unter dem Hubschrauber des DLR befindet sich eine Referenzantenne (Mitte) und eine Empfangseinrichtung (rote Messbox). Die von dem neuen Antennensystem als Funktion des Ortes erfassten Messwerte der elektrischen Hochfrequenz-Feldstärke tragen dazu bei, die Feldstärkemessungen aus der Luft als Bestandteil der periodischen Flugvermessung von Instrumentenlandesystemen zu validieren. Die Messung mit dem Helikopter bietet u. a. den Vorteil, länger an einem Punkt messen zu können.
