Das auf einem Siliziumkarbid-Kristall gewachsene Graphen, ein zweidimensionales Bienenwabengitter aus Kohlenstoffatomen, wird in Leiterbahnen strukturiert und teilweise mit Wasserstoff behandelt. Dadurch wird erreicht, dass Strom (im Bild: blaue Elektronen) über Graphen-Kontakte (schwarz) in den Siliziumkarbidkristall fließt und durch wasserstoffbehandelte Graphen-Kontakte (rot/gelb) kontrolliert werden kann.
