Meeting point Berlin: More than 500 international experts from science, research, industry and society as well as policy makers participated in the conference "Research for Sustainability - Driver for Innovation" from 23rd to 25th September. Those three days were characterized by intense discussions about state of the art research, the collaboration of policy, science and research as well as future research priorities. Now, the respective documentation is available.
The documentation covers a preface by the Federal Minister of Education and Research, Dr. Annette Schavan, MdB, as well as the speech by Parliamentary State Secretary Thomas Rachel among others. In addition, the presentations of the "12th European Roundtable on Sustainable Consumption and Production (erscp2008)" also form a vital part of the edition. The Roundtable was hosted in Germany for the first time.
Greetings by government representatives from Poland, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Romania und Hungary supplement the documentation. Interviews held by Steffen Seibert (ZDF) with Johannes Wortberg (Konstruktion und Kunststoffmaschinen, Universität Duisburg-Essen), Jürgen Pfitzer (TECNARO GmbH), Stephan Evers (EVERS e.K. Wassertechnik und Anthrazitveredelung) and Rainer Griesshammer (Öko-Institut e.V., Freiburg) were also edited for this publication. Additionally, the results of the 16 FONA-Sessions, the outcome statement of the "International Observers Group" as well as the projects from the exhibition are presented.
Together with this English documentation the final version of the film about the "5th BMBF-Forum for Sustainability" is being published. The film, the documentation and further information as well as photos and results of the 5th BMBF-Forum for Sustainability "Research for Sustainability - Driver for Innovation" are released on the official conference homepage http://www.fona.de/forum-2008.
